My Child Custody Practice
In Maryland, the courts are moving away from concepts of custody/visitation and toward ensuring and managing the access that each parent has to the children. I will help you work to come to agreement on an access schedule that is in the best interests of your child while protecting and maintaining your role as a parent.
Because I know that the courts look favorably upon parents who work together in the best interests of their children, I will encourage you to find ways to cooperatively establish plans for access. Nonetheless, I will carefully examine the factors that the court considers in order to determine the likelihood that you can obtain physical custody.
I also work with grandparent, relatives or other third parties who seek custody rights to children in need, specifically in situations where both parents are deemed unfit to have custody, often due to drug abuse, illness, criminal activity or other concerns.
Protecting Your Rights in Child Support Disputes
I will review all proposed child support orders for compliance with Maryland guidelines, making certain that all relevant income is included in the calculation. I handle child support matters in divorce situations, from the determination of temporary support while the divorce is pending through a final divorce decree to requests for modification or enforcement of an existing child support order. In addition, I handle child support matters for parents who are not married to one another.
