Lawyer in Baltimore, Maryland: Adoptions
Protecting the Interests of Birth Parents and Adoptive Parents
Whether you are hoping to build a family through adoption, or you are wrestling with the difficult decision of whether to put your child up for adoption, the uncertainty inherent in the process can lead to a high level of stress and anxiety. You want to work with an attorney who knows the law and process, but who can also help you deal with the emotional challenges you encounter.
At the office of attorney Susan Kirwan, I have worked closely with birth parents and adoptive parents throughout the Baltimore area. I recognize that every situation is unique and will take the time to carefully listen to your concerns, so that I can tailor my representation to meet your needs. I strive to foster an environment of trust, where you know you can ask all your questions and you know you will be heard. Experienced Representation in Adoption Proceedings
In my adoption practice, I handle:
- Preparation of adoption agreements. I handle all matters related to open or closed adoption proceedings in Maryland. I will act as your advocate with all other parties in the adoption process, including birth parents, adoptive parents, adoption agencies and the court. I can advise you in a stepparent or grandparent adoption, as well as a private (party-to-party) or agency adoption.
- Termination of parental rights. When an adoption requires the termination of parental rights of a biological parent, I can help. Whether the termination is voluntary or not, and whether you are the adopting parent or the biological parent, I can protect your interests.
In all adoption proceedings, I will place a priority on the best interests of any children involved.
To schedule a free initial consultation, send me an e-mail or call me at 410-244-1456. I meet with clients by appointment only, and am available for consultations weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. I accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.
