Maryland Visitation Attorney

At the law office of Susan Kirwan, Attorney at Law, I protect the rights of individuals in sole and joint custody matters. I know that family law matters can involve a lot of uncertainty, which leads to stress and anxiety. I am committed to establishing a relationship built on trust in an environment where you know your interests are being protected. I recognize that the circumstances of your case are unique and will listen carefully to your concerns so that I can identify solutions that address your specific needs.

My Child Custody Practice

In Maryland, the courts are moving away from concepts of custody/visitation and toward ensuring and managing the access that each parent has to the children. I will help you work to come to agreement on an access schedule that is in the best interests of your child while protecting and maintaining your role as a parent.

Because I know that the courts look favorably upon parents who work together in the best interests of their children, I will encourage you to find ways to cooperatively establish plans for access. Nonetheless, I will carefully examine the factors that the court considers in order to determine the likelihood that you can obtain physical custody.

I also work with grandparents, relatives or other third parties who seek custody rights to children in need, specifically in situations where both parents are deemed unfit to have custody, often due to drug abuse, illness, criminal activity or other concerns.
